Michigan Pest Control Company

Michigan Extermination- Poison Free Pest Exterminators

Rat and Squirrel

Not all Michigan exterminators are the same. We are truly different then most extermination companies in Michigan. Most companies use poisons like rodenticides to solve pest problems like rats and mice. Rodents are not easily control with poison techniques. Animals die in walls, underneath insulation, and secondary poisoning is problem for your pets. Trapping, control, and prevention is the best form of extermination. Are exterminator programs are much different then most. We do not try to solve the attic pest problem by simply putting down rodenticides or spraying poisons. Finding entry points and locating potential points of entry into your home and attic is the best method for control. By setting live traps or snap traps in the attic is the best method for locating problem rodents like mice and rats. When the animals are caught they can easily be excluded with no smells. Dying pest and rodents in your wall will cause a horrible smell and maggots, which eventually turn into a fly problem.

Pest control companies or exterminators will tell you rodenticides will cause the mice or roof rats to become thirsty and leave your home for water. This is not true at all. Most mice in the attic or roof rats do not even no they are drying out and dying right away. Usually poison take up to 14 days to completely kick in and kill off the animal. Animals don't choose where to die and often will find sheltered areas like walls or attics to die off in. Poisons will cause these rodents a slow agonizing death. We take a different approach when getting rid of nuisance pest or rodents like rats, squirrels, mice, etc. Below is our extermination program.

Our Exterminators Take on a Different Approach when getting rid of Nuisance Pest

  1. Inspection of the home is done in the attic, along the perimeter of the home, and on the roof tops.
  2. Choosing an extermination method that best fits your problem.
  3. Exclusion Methods- For animals like bats or squirrels an exclusion method could be the best and most efficient way to get rid of them. Bats are protected and can not be trapped or poisoned.
  4. Trapping Methods- Most of our exterminators will use the trapping method in your attic or on your roof to get rid of your problem rodents.
  5. Repairs- fixing all of the entry points and potential entry points is a must once the critters are gone. leave the holes open will only allow new pest to reenter the home and attic.
  6. Follow up- Setting traps is only half the battle. Following up to check the traps is a must. For live traps they will need to be checked daily to see if there are any animals in the traps. The snap trap method which is most efficient way to solve your attic pest problem will need to be checked weekly or biweekly depending on your service plan.
  7. Clean up- Rodent droppings can cause a disease called the hanta virus. A respiratory disease caused from the droppings.

For any exterminator you hire it is important you understand the services that are being performed. Get knowledge of the poisons like rodenticides the company is using. Ask about secondary poisoning and see if this is something you are willing to take the chance with.

Beavers in Michigan can be a nuisance to humans, properties, forestry, and farmlands. Beavers create dams in Michigan properties near rivers and lakes. It is important to capture all nuisance beavers by trapping either using a leg hold method or into a live trap. Beavers will chew down your trees creating great damage. Often there are floods along the banks of rivers and lakes and even into your yard. Floods into the Michigan homes have sometimes come from the dams of beavers. Beavers are considered the largest rodent in North America.  They live in aquatic environments and build there dams (living areas) out of logs, sticks and whatever else they can find.  They have large teeth and use them to saw down trees and branches.

Bird Control

Birds in Michigan can sometimes cause more damage than any nuisance wild animal.  There nest are filled with bacteria and fungi.  There are several diseases associated with bird nest material.  Just like with bat guano you can contract histopoplasmosis when inhaling  the  airborne spores of the nest.  The birds we generally deal with that give problems to homeowners and industrial buildings are pigeons, chimney swifts, starlings, sparrows, swallows and wood peckers.

Barn Swallow

Skunks feast on grubs and other insects below your soil. Also skunks get into garbage's scavenging for food. Skunks are near sighted animals and use their sense of smell to maneuver around. Skunks will spray an unbearable odor out their anus up to 10 feet if they feel threatened. A warning sign skunks feel threatened is by stopping their feet and raise their tail. If this happens, back away slowly

Squirrel Control

There are different types of squirrels in Michigan. Red squirrel, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, black squirrel, chipmunk, and flying squirrel.  Most squirrels are diurnal but the flying squirrel is nocturnal.  They fly through the trees at night so they can avoid hawks, eagles, and other flying predators.  Squirrels feast on pine cones, bird seed, egg corns, walnuts, and during Halloween pumpkins. They like to gnaw on treated wood because of the salt in the wood. They live mostly in trees and underground. They make nesting material out of leaves and sticks.
